Yesterday I was up at 0300 in order to get to the airport on time for my 0640 flight. The past week had been crazy. On top of the standard daily tasks, there was packing but most importantly, documenting everything I do on a daily basis so Stephen could follow it. He knows what I accomplish each day, but not necessarily the nuts and bolts. For example: this goat is currently getting extra rations to support multiple growing kids or a Royal Palm turkey hen is limping so she needs to be checked every day to ensure she is healing.
So many things I don't think about. Almost on autopilot. Definitely a great exercise for my fellow farmers to do if you ever wish to travel or more importantly, in case an emergency takes you off farm.
I was treated by Jerry to Air Canada Rouge Business Class. Highly recommend it if possible. Oversized comfy chairs with a pillow, blanket, outlet, and iPad for watching movies plus a full breakfast of an omlet, roasted potatoes, and fruit. It reminded me of flying as a kid. Fashionable flight attendants, high end service.
Flying into Barbados, I of course, noticed the numerous fields prepped for planting. Many more than I had ever seen on other Caribbean islands. There was even a row of high tunnels. We are blessed with a view of the Blue Ridge from our farm in Virginia, but seeing the teal Caribbean Sea from my field might be nice.
Other cool observations. Cattle on chain tethers grazing a fenceless field next to the roadway. JEALOUS! Animal Control would be at our gate within thirty minutes if I attempted that with our goats. Heck, we had to explain tractoring to them. In the neighborhoods, there were numerous roadside stands selling produce and baked goods. Some in front yards. Others out of their truck beds. There was even a woman selling sweets and snacks out of her car at a school entrance. Extremely different.
We spent the night before our cruise at the Hilton Barbados Beach Resort. Beautiful setting. White sands beach. Teal water. Palms waving in the perfect breeze. Drinks and lunch on the beach. If I wasn't still on "Farm Time" there would have been much more to enjoy.
Double rainbow viewed from our balcony. I would say a good sign.
The following are Carlisle Bay which the hotel sits on.
Until tomorrow!

Gorgeous!
